Backups

Backups are restore points for an active server. Create one before risky changes, then restore or download it if you need to recover.

Backups and Vault are different.

Backups help you roll back an active server. Vault parks a server, archives its files, and frees the machine.

Create a manual backup

  1. Open Backups.
  2. Choose New backup.
  3. Wait for the backup status to finish successfully.
  4. Download it or leave it available as a restore point.

Automatic backups

Automatic backups are on by default. You choose the cadence: hourly, every 2 hours, every 4 hours, every 12 hours, or daily. Pick a cadence that matches how often your world changes.

You also choose how many backups to keep, up to 20. New servers start at 10. When a new backup passes the limit, the oldest eligible backup is removed.

Restore a backup

Restore overwrites current world data.

Make sure you picked the right backup. If you are unsure, download the current world or create another backup first.

  1. Open Backups and find the completed backup you want.
  2. Choose Restore.
  3. Wait for the restore to complete before starting heavy file changes.
  4. Start or restart the server and confirm the world loads correctly.

Download or manage worlds directly

To download the active world, upload a different world, or switch the active folder, use the Worlds page.

When a backup is not available

A backup can be running, failed, locked for a system operation, or waiting for the panel to catch up. If a backup stays stuck or you cannot restore a completed backup, contact support before deleting files.

Still stuck? Try Troubleshooting, or contact support.
