SteamPunk runs on 8 GB and up. That is a tested number from running the pack on our own hardware, not a guess. For a typical friend group we recommend the Modded plan: 8 GB, sized for 3-10 players.
What kind of group is a SteamPunk server best for?
Groups that like a shared project. The pack shines when one friend lays out the machine floor, another hunts materials across the map, and the base slowly becomes something you give tours of. It rewards sticking with one world, which is exactly what a server is for.
Do all those moving machines strain the server?
Moving machinery costs more than static blocks, and a big workshop is exactly the load this pack is built around. That is why we tested SteamPunk on our own hardware before selling it: the recommended plan reflects a real running factory, and you can upgrade in place if yours grows past it.
Can we switch to a different pack later?
