Quilt started as a group of Fabric contributors who wanted a loader with open, community-run governance and more modern internals, and it kept the thing that matters most: Fabric compatibility. The overwhelming majority of Fabric mods load and run without changes, so you get the same lightweight, performance-friendly modding ecosystem, maintained in the open by the community that actually uses it.

Frequently asked questions

Do Fabric mods work on Quilt?
Almost all of them. Quilt was built to load Fabric mods, and the vast majority run without any changes. A few mods that hook deep into loader internals can misbehave, so give your list a quick test, but for a typical Fabric mod folder the answer is simply yes.
Should I pick Quilt or Fabric for my server?
If your mod list is pure Fabric and you want the most battle-tested path, Fabric is the safe default. Pick Quilt if you like its community-run project and newer tooling, or if a mod you want is built Quilt-first. Since Quilt loads Fabric mods, moving your list over is usually painless.
Can we switch to a different pack later?
Yes. Your dashboard can switch the server to another pack or server type. Take a backup first and the old world stays restorable.
Are backups included?
Yes. Off-site cloud backups are included on every plan, on a configurable hourly to weekly cadence, and your backup space matches your server space.
